Location of the two PCI-E 1x slots (directly below the PCIE 2.0 slot)
|
Summary
Been using this board for several weeks now with a Core 2 E8400 3Ghz CPU. This board is a great board for the price. Having two PCI 2.0 slots is only nessasary if you want crossfire support which I don't so I didn't care at all that is only comes with one 1 2.0 slot.
The location of the ATX power connector is in my opionion in a better location then to the right side like most motherboards are. Simply re-angle the PSU power cord around your CPU cooler. This really is not that hard but for some reason many people can't seem to realize this lol. As far as the location of the two PCI-E 1x slots, well, that is a different story. Todays video cards are mostly dual-slot cards, meaning they take up at least two slots in your case. This means one of those PCI-E 1x slots will be covered with only one remaining. You can barely get away with using it but it will block air flow to your video cards cooler depending on how big the cooler on it is. I took away 1 star for this reason and this reason alone...

Pros
Works Good. If you are only going to use only 1 video card this board does the job perfectly. Good for any decent dual OC. Running dual here. Very Stable Has individual heat sinks which does as good a job.
|
Cons
None Period
|
Summary
As far as complaints about the atx power connection in the middle of the motherboard?
I have no trouble with that in my Antec P180b
I have the cable formed under the rear fan between the video card then down along rear of the case, straight down, handi tyed twice to the rear.
The power cable is completely out of the way for video card removal and does not impede airflow!!
Bios pretty similar to the "higher" models in the series if you look them over. And going to use only 1 video card.
Very feature rich!!

Pros
-Good Looking -Affordable -P45 chipset
|
Cons
-1 PCI-Express slot
|
Summary
This is a good board for someone who wants a gaming system on a budget, knows they wont need that extra PCI-E slot and wants the P45 chipset at an affordable price. I was pleased that on a 32 bit operating system the board was able to manage about 3.25 GB of the 4 GB of ram I had installed along with a 280 GTX. It performs decently but take that comment with a grain of salt as I have not benchmarked it. I like the easy features of these new P5Q boards, they are easy to install and look cool in a windowed case. Easy 4 stars and id recommend it to anyone who wants performance on a budget, otherwise id look into some higher end boards.

Pros
uses heatsink - no chipset fan runs cool stable oc 12 usb 8 sata cheap intel chipset
|
Cons
power connector location no usb ports for internal usb connectors
|
Summary
I'm oc this to 3.56GHz with a Q9450 stable, and a 9800GX2. It runs pretty cool w/o the need of a chipset fan, so its quieter than my previous mobo. The 24pin power connector is located at a weird location next to the cpu. it has 6 external usb and 6 internal usb, but it doesn't come with a usb port for the internal usb connectors.

Pros
Price, looks?, lots of SATA ports, lots of USB ports
|
Cons
Power connector in a very bad spot
|
Summary
After i ordered this board i found out about incompatibility with linux but installing a distro with a 2.6.27 kernel or newer seems to work for both SATA and Network. The BIOS has lots of options for OC. I was happy to see that my Ninja Cooler fit no problem but I must say that I scratched my head over where ASUS decided to place the power connector on this board, bad design choice.

Pros
P45 Chipset, Great clocking, EPU, Firewire and lots of happy features
|
Cons
The main power connector, Cable management
|
Summary
Nice looking board with a great chipset and many ports and features. Unfortunately mine was defective and failed, but it worked great while it did. Cable management was the downfall of this board, because the main power connector is located in the middle of nowhere, forcing the cable to push up on larger CPU heatsinks and destroying airflow. Nice yellow heatsinks though.

|
Pros
Good overclocker, OC profile really useful, runs stable, good RAID controler, 3 PCI slots, other than the connectors everything is well placed
|
Cons
The 24 pin and 8 pin ATX connectors are really poorly placed, boot is a bit slow
|
Summary
I'm really happy with this board so far, it has very good overclocking abilities and the RAID controller that comes with it is very good. Having used RAID-0 on my old EVGA 590i sli board, i can see a big difference in HDD performance. The only downside is the 24 and 8 pin ATX connectors: they are so poorly placed that people might have problems reaching them, so just be sure you can, and this board is perfect for you.

Summary
Great P45 chipset MB, can't go wrong with ASUS, although I have heard some people having OC problems with the P35 series released by them. This board is awesome and running at 4.8 GHz on air!
