- Options
- Price (on sale for $130)
- Quality
- 'Dead' socket :'(
I can't say enough good things about this board. Granted, if you're going to build a new computer, you probably wouldn't touch it but I had a spare 920 lying around so when I saw the $130 sale price, I couldn't resist.

It's updated with 'future proofing' technology, something the first 1366 mobo's didn't have (sata3, usb3) plus came with a bunch of additional goodies. I'm not going to list them all, you can research that for yourself but for the price, the quality, the accessories... it was an awesome buy if you have an old i7 lying around.

Experience: 1 Months

very user friendly
has handled a new build admirably ,well built and well designed MSI quality . i7 960 socket and the msi gtx 560 ti448 twin frozr III work well with this motherboard

Experience: 2 Days

it was half price.
It performs really well
it's ooold tech now (with lga 2011 and sandybridge so dominant in the market)
It's a great motherboard for the price. If only it wasn't old tech for a dead end socket I would have given it five stars. Replaced a faulty p6x58d e with this in lieu of replacing my 4.2ghz i7 w/ a 2011 socket...which would probably have costed a lot more.

Experience: 4 Weeks

Performance, tweeking, ease of use, hi-quality construction.
For my recent Pro-video editing System build, i got this mobo knowing full well of its reputation, which it didn't disappoint. This thing just uzzes quality, oC genie is an added bonus, got a mild OC or 3760 out of the 950 on first try, and left it there for 24hr operation and stability.
I'm rarely impressed by hardware, but this thing is impressive, highly recommend it to serious gamers or oc enthusiasts.

Nice OCing mobo.
OC Genie for those who prefer the quick method of OCing. (Not me.)
Plenty of 16x slots. (Which I can use for 1x and 4x cards.)
SATA 6Gs/s and USB 3.0
From a light-medium enthusiast, I see none so far.
I've been slowly getting more into OCing and this is the best board for that I have ever owned. I normally spend $130-$160ish on mobos.

The BB Xpower definitely has more than enough features for me to play with in the BIOS. I've managed up to 4255MHz (H50 for cooling.)with my I7 950 but am currently running at 4025MHz due to a failed OC that corrupted Windows and just got messy. That is plenty for me seeing I saw a nice boost in some games.

I'm very pleased with my purchase.

-MANY features
-OC Dashboard
-(Beta) Bios updates Regularly
-vQPI droops a LOT even with "Low VDroop" setting in bios
-Bios Not relaly up to par yet
-No support from 3rd party watercool manufacture(for North Bridge and MOSFET blocks)
This is a great board. If you're looking for a good enthusiast mobo that rivals the Asus ROG, this will do it. It overclocks very well. My i7 950 is running 4.6ghz 24/7 with this board. There's a ton of features from this board, SATAIII, USB 3.0, voltage test-points, OC dashboard, 16 phase!!!, great software support. I know the price-tag might be alarming, but it's totally worth it, especially if you're an enthusiast.

There are several quarks though. The voltage regulation is generally good except for the vQPI. It will droop about 0.1v at load (might sound little, but you'll know what I mean if you're an overclocker). This is the reason why my rig won't touch 5.0ghz. I can get it to 4.9, but the QPI voltage droops too much to get it any higher. Another thing is the Northbridge. I have not actually taken off the heatsink yet, but by all accounts, the thermal paste used is close to worthless. Changing it will decrease the temperature from an alarming 80-90c to 40c...This is still a relatively new board. It has had 3 revision (i believe), but there are still kinks MSI still need to work out from its bios. Hibernate is bugged...if you overclock it takes 5 min or more to boot into windows. Recent beta bios will not even sleep the computer. The bios interface has keyboard issues. Minor stuff, but it gets annoying after a while. Finally...since this is not the most popular board in the community, 3rd party watercooling manufactures have not, and probably will not, make custom waterblocks for this board. So if you want to watercool your northbridge and mosfets with a custom block specifically for this board, you're probably out of luck and will have to stick with the generic ones.

All in all, there are problems, but they are all minor which I can live with. This is a great board, great support, great software and great performance. Highly recommended.

Experience: 2 Weeks

Awesome overclocker
voltage read points
SIX PCIE x16 slots! (not all able to run at 16x at same time)
On-board sound is sub-par, even by "on-board standards"
You probably won't use OC genie if buying this board
I really love this board so far. My i7 950 is currently overclocked to 4.4Ghz on air. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 is because of the sub-par on-board sound + sound card included. Sounds like I'm playing my video games inside a "tin can". I was able to customize an equalizer profile so it was more bearable. Perhaps its just me getting used to "new sounds" as I moved over from a 750i FTW LGA 755 mobo. Either way I will probably be buying a 3rd party sound card.
I can safely say the mobo is not holding back any of my overclocking....My mobo is not my bottleneck for once!

Well Designed
Good Manufacturer
Absolutely an well designed product from msi also this has 4 way Crossfire support love this product

Experience: 2 Days

Amazing board, debug lights are helpful, OC Dashboard is pretty cool if you want to keep an eye on temps during CPU intensive tasks. Quality
None so far.
As it stands right now, I have only had this for 2 days now however I have had 0 problems, POSTed on first boot up.

Picked up all of this with the board in one go:

MSI Big Bang XPower
XFX Radeon HD 5850
6GB G.Skill DDR3 Kit
Lanboy Air case
Intel X25 40GB SSD
WD Green 1TB
Corsair 1000W PSU
Corsair H50

Everything works well and the CPU sits b 30C when not really doing much at all.
